You will be welcomed in a charming ancient dwelling in the Arab-Andalusian style, respecting nature in a protected environment, dominated from the East to the West by the Atlantic Ocean & the Bay of Faro.
LIFE AT LA « CHAULEE D’ESTOI »
The owners of La Chaulée will share their home with you, the majority of which they have renovated over the last two & a half years in the style of the old “Algarvian” country homes.
The placement of the existing walls led them towards a style of “spontaneity” mixed with that of their Andalucian neighbours enriched with an “Arab” touch, keeping a degree of architectural rusticity using stone, wood & lime as the only materials.
But in spite of this rusticity, comfort was of prime importance in the reconstruction of the house because the winters near the ocean are windy & damp. Under-floor heating & the hot water in the four bathrooms are fed by an ecological heat pump.
Each morning at 9am, the little bell reverberates to call everyone to the breakfast eaten together on the south terrace. Breakfasts are filling & typically composed of a selection of organic seasonal fruit, home-made jams, local mountain bread, cereals, farm butter etc accompanied by the juice from local oranges, coffee, a variety of teas, hot chocolate etc depending on your wishes…
Your excursions in the area will be enriched by information or suggestions which cab be given at La Chaulée but the communal breakfast table will quickly become a little “forum” where everyone will exchange their impressions & advice based on their experiences.
Other than breakfast meals are not served at La Chaulée – you will be able to taste many local dishes in the numerous small restaurants in the surrounding area just a few minutes from the property which are very good value & not expensive. If you would like to have details of more “gourmet” restaurants, the owners would be happy to advise
So that you can relax as soon as the first rays of the morning sunshine appear, an infinity pool will let you forget the stresses of daily life.
You will be invited to many local events (farmer’s markets, weekly second-hand markets, discovery of local crafts, traditional local folk festivals … ) in the traditional neighbouring villages. You could take part in Sub-Acqa Diving, Golf, Big Game Fishing , Hang gliding, Mountain Biking, Rambling etc etc …..
Just 10 minutes or so by car from the property you can discover the first beaches of white sand, the Rio Formosa & its protected wildlife, the nearby islands which you can reach by catamaran from Faro as well as the magnificent, more intimate creeks accessed by land … for the more adventurous!

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE at LA CHAULEE:
Only on the basis of a minimum of six participants (the three bedrooms together) you will be able to choose the following courses:
- Mosaics (learning skills & completion of a mosaic object – Materials included but the “base object” that the participant chooses is at the participant’s cost. EG small item of furniture, earthenware jar, frame, flower pot etc…). The workshop is 4 hours per day – 40.00 euros per person per day (equals 240.00 euros per person for 6 days)
- French Conversation – 4 hours per day during a 7 day week (equals 280.00 euros per person) for those wishing to improve their skills & achieve real progress.
- Courses in Personal Development & Tarot Psychology (Dates to be organised based on a specific demand)
- “Well Being” – Sessions of metamorphic massage undertaken by a specialist – 1 hour session
- REIKI – Sessions undertaken by a specialist – 1 hour session
CAUTION – Please be aware of the following:
It is a “non-smoking” house & no smoking is permitted in any of the rooms. Ashtrays can be supplied for smoking outside (please respect all precautions necessary in the “dry” season)
The pathways in the garden are paved with rough stone & local gravel with chips of stone that can be very sharp & could injure
- The garden is mainly planted with cacti & spiny plants – these can be dangerous
- The swimming pool is not secure
We do NOT recommend “LA CHAULEE” to be suitable for young children!
Around the edges of the land there are numerous slopes & uneven ground which unfortunately are not adapted for wheelchair users – please excuse us!
THE BEDROOMS
- Each bedroom is light & spacious
- Each has a double bed & a private bathroom (with bath or walk-in shower)
- The toilet are separate to the bathroom
- The layout of the bedrooms does not allow the addition of an extra bed
- Each bedroom has an independent entrance leading from the outside terrace
- There is a second access from each bedroom to the interior of the house leading to breakfast area
- The bedrooms are heated when necessary in Low Season
The FUCHSIA room
Indo-Morrocan atmosphere, a mix of bright, warm styles & colours. Shaded terrace a views to the amphitheatre & the pool
The SAFFRON room
Afro-Madagascan atmosphere decorated with paintings & objects from the owner’s travels. South facing terrace, views to the sea & the garden
The OCEAN room
Sea side atmosphere where the " MAJORELLE BLUE COLOR " is pride of place.. South East facing terrace, views to the sea, the hills & the garden.
PRICES:
- 1st May – 31st May – Low Season – 70.00 Euros (Minimum of 5 nights
- 1st June – 31st October – High Season – 85.00 Euros (Minimu of 5 nights
- 1st November – 31st December – Low Season – 70.00 Euros but if cold weather, 85.00 Euros including heating (Minimum of 3 nights)
These prices are per room (two persons sharing) per night & breakfast is included.
Payment:
Deposit payment of 25% of total by bank transfer in order to confirm booking.
Balance to be paid in cash on day of arrival at La Chaulée

- Faro beach – 10 minutes by car
